August 2021 I Ching Horoscopes

Pisces

Your August trigrams are K’un (Earth) over Li (Fire) and the hexagram is called ‘Ming I’
or darkening of the light.
August may feel very challenging. Something or someone is providing what feels like an
intractable problem but the message is to see things from a different perspective. Step back from it
and try to get some clarity. Above all accept you have no way to change things. K’un is
receptive, docile and nurturing. K’un is also about respect – not only respect for other peoples
viewpoints but also respect for yourself. Li is intelligence and you need to use yours and accept
you cannot force others to change. But by stepping back you can allow your inner light to shine
to show others the way – to encourage them to to change themselves.

Aries

Your August trigrams are K’un (Earth) over K’an (Water)and the hexagram is called Shih or
The army.
This hexagram is almost pure yin energy but that little boost of yang means your natural yang
fiery nature is getting a bit of a boost from last month! Things are about to improve. K’un is
reminding you words can elicit strong emotions but emotions are not always the best guide to what
we should do. Don’t focus on being bogged down. K’a does indicate you are not as free to act as
you wish but K’an is about all water – wells, rivers and streams and waterfalls. Things are about
to start flowing in the right direction, maybe in a bigger way than you can imagine. Keep the end
goal in mind and keep everyone focussed on that, your heart, your mind, and the other people
involved.

Taurus

Your August trigrams are K’an (Water) over K’an. (Water) The hexagram is also called
K’an which translates as ‘The Abysmal’ (Abyss as in a deep place).
The sub heading of this chapter is ‘Ambition and presumption always lead to danger.’ A better way
of putting it is to remember ‘assume makes an ass out of u and me.’ This hexagram is more yin
(earth) than yang (fire) so is more in tune with your earthy nature than might appear at first. August
is not the month to give in to despair because things don’t seem to be progressing well. K’an often
indicates a feeling of being trapped as if in the bottom of an abyss. The important thing is to let go
of the need to do something. Let your natural patience come to the for. Make time for some
gardening and remind yourself that some things can’t be hurried. K’an is asking you to let go of the
idea that you must do something or that this situation must be changed. Wait and see what
happens.

Gemini

Your August trigrams are Chen (Thunder) over Li (Fire) and the hexagram is called Feng or
Abundance.
In August you need to accept that everything goes in cycles and that finding the right opportunity
to do or say something is important. Chen indicates an opportunity to do something important is
about to happen. But you need to grasp the opportunity with both hands as soon as it is there. And it
isn’t only you who could benefit. Chen is giving you the chance of a different perspective on
things. Li is letting you know you can help others simply be being you and taking opportunities as
they arise. You are naturally curious and that is a good attitude for you to have in August. Just ask
yourself ‘What’s the worst that could happen.’ If the answer is ‘nothing disastrous…’ Why not try
it?

Cancer

Your August trigrams are Tui (Lake) over Chen (Thunder) and the hexagram is called Sui
or Following.
The subheading of this chapter is “ Follow ones values, no matter how difficult this seems.” Let
your tenacious nature come to the fore and don’t let pessimism take over. Believe in yourself –
believe in what you are trying to do. But be open to new ideas and perspectives from others. Chen
is all about communication especially in this internet age. Something on social media may well
resonate with you and give you a new approach. Tui is about youth and innocence. Tui is suggesting
you approach things the way a child would – seeing wonder in the mundane and finding love and
inspiration in the very ordinary. It could be an interesting month!

Leo

Your August trigrams are Sun (Wind) over Ken (Mountain) and the hexagram is called Chien
or Gradual progress/Development.
You might fear that the wind will extinguish your natural fiery nature. In fact the wind can fan the
flames of your creativity at the right time. A mountain top is often very windy but it takes time to
get there and you can only get there step by step. Sun is all about gentleness and Ken is about
stillness – two attitudes in theory opposed to the action you feel is needed. BUT if you are gentle
with yourself and take regular breaks you will get that mountain top in a much better state. August
is a month when if you do things at the right time and in the right way you will see real progress.
‘More haste…less speed.’

Virgo

Your August trigrams are Chen (Thunder) over K’an (Water) and the hexagram is called
Hsieh or Deliverance.
You are naturally very practical and analytical and look for the best most logical solutions for
everyone. That won’t work this time. Chen is indicating a cherished idea needs to be abandoned
however neat and practical an idea it is. K’an is warning you if you don’t change direction it could
all turn out very badly. Chen indicates an important communication will come in to point you in the
right direction. K’an indicates it will mean you getting a new perspective on things. You may not
like the message Chen brings but don’t shoot the messenger who has your best interests at heart.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Remember not all problems can be solved.

Libra

Your August trigrams are Chen (Thunder) over Ch’ien (Heaven) and the hexagram is called
Ta Chuang or The Power of Great.
Have you ever had a ‘Eureka’ moment when suddenly everything becomes clear and it all just
flows from there? That could well be what happens this month for you. But change is never
pleasant and you may need to all your natural diplomacy to smooth ruffled feathers in others. Don’t
make the mistake of thinking you can ignore their feelings or blame them for not immediately
seeing your idea with the same Chien inspired clarity you can. Chien rules the head and wisdom.
Use your natural wisdom and fair minded approach to help others understand your vision. Chen
indicates a time of turbulence but it will be worth it.

Scorpio

Your August trigrams are Sun (Wind) over Ch’ien (Heaven) and the hexagram is called
Hsiao Ch’u or ‘The taming power of the small’.
You are very resourceful and passionate and good at looking at the bigger picture. In August you
need to focus on the small details. It’s very easy to get swept up when Ch’ien is working for you.
Ch’ien is pure fiery yang energy and Sun’s wind needs to be position JUST right to keep the fire
going rather than blowing it out. Small details can make a lot of difference. In August its all about
getting the timing right. Sun invites you to take time to reflect to make sure you have not overlooked
something small. The journey of 10000 miles starts with one small step. Make sure you take that
step at the right time and going in the right direction.

Sagittarius

Your August trigrams are Tui (Lake) over Ch’ien (Heaven) and the hexagram is called
Kuei or Breakthrough.
The sub heading for this chapter is ‘Be resolute. Keep with the correct limits.’ This hexagram is
almost pure yang and your fiery sign will feel quite at home but it will be very easy to get swept
up with enthusiasm. You hate being constrained and however much Ch’ien’s fiery creativity makes
you feel you can leap tall buildings in a single bound, you are not superman and you need to
remember your limits. Tui’s lake is not there to quench your enthusiasm but to remind you that you need
time to enjoy the lighter things of life. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy (or Jill a dull
girl). Find time to relax and have fun to re-charge your batteries. The work will still be there when
are rested.

Capricorn

Your August trigrams are Ken (Mountain) over K’un (Earth) and the hexagram is called
Po or splitting apart.
This hexagram is 5 split yin lines topped by one complete yang line and that yang line (the top
line of Ken) looks as if it is the only thing holding it together. Ken is all about stillness and you will
need all your natural discipline in August to do…precisely nothing. The power is out of your hands.
You need to receptive to others needs and if that means letting them do their own thing without
interfering you need to respect that. Don’t make the mistake of assuming you know what they
should do. K’en invites stillness and is about personal growth. Standing back and watching
someone else grow in their own way may well teach you something surprising. K’un is about
gentle creativity- which may be slow but some things can’t be hurried. K’un is about caution,
modesty, and warns against letting your emotions get out of control. If you have never meditated
August could be a great month to start.

Aquarius

Your August trigrams are K’un (Earth) over Tui (Lake) and the hexagram, is called Lin
or Approach.
August may be an uncomfortable month for you but don’t lose heart – things are going to improve.
It may feel as if everything is conspiring to hold you back, but both K’un and Tui are encouraging
you to learn important lessons. K’un is about being receptive to others emotional needs. Tui is about
allowing your own emotional needs to be met. Tui is reminding you that everything you do needs to
be underpinned by approaching everything with an open and curious mind – as free from
preconceptions as a child is. K’un is reminding you that emotions are signals that something needs
attention. K’un rules the belly and August is a good month to pay attention to gut feelings that you
might normally dismiss. You enjoy taking risks – what’s the worst that can happen if you listen to
them just this once?
